On the other hand, should you decide to go to the suburds, woods, country side or public parks, make sure that the place is safe. You don't want to get mugged or raped while trying to keep fit. Ok, keeping fit is more like a cross country or marathon run than a 100-metre sprint. So, take it easy in the beginning. You don't want to "burn" or "tire" yourself out even before you really started.

Start with just once a week and jog for maybe just 20-30 minutes. As your body begin to get used to it and your stamina increases, you can slowly increase the frequency and duration. But take it easy and increase slowly, little by little. You don't want to over push yourself or worn yourself out. You must enjoy doing it and not dread it.

Go jogging with a determination to have a good time. If you enjoy running slowly, then do it slowly and take in the sceneries. If you enjoy running fast and sweat it out, then do it, but watch your limit.

Remember that you jog to keep fit and stay healthy. This is not a competition. The only person you are competing with is yourself and not somebody else.

You must understand that your body takes time to get used to new routines. So, if you want to build up your fitness and good health, give your body enough time to adjust. Don't over push your physique or you might give yourself permanent bodily damage. Don't over do it.

One of the most satisfying ways to go jogging is to bring someone along. Yes, instead of jogging alone, you might want to consider jogging with your spouse, a family member, friend, colleague, neighbour, etc. It can be quite fun and extremely rewarding to have someone to talk to while you jog.

Or you could also consider bringing along a pet, if you can't think of anyone suitable to go jogging with. A dog seems to be one of the most popular pet to go jogging with. Remember to leash your pet and make sure that it does not become a nuisance or hurt anyone. Should there be any law prohibiting any pet in a public place, please abide by it and don't bring the pet. Be responsible and civic minded.

Just like any other sports or fitness activities, in order to truelly benefit from it, you have to have the self-discipline to do it regularly (without fail, excuse or procrastination). Ultimately, you are the one who is going to benefit from a healthy and fit body. At least do it for yourself.
