KOOBROS.COM About Us
Welcome to KOOBROS.COM, a website of happy people, by happy people, for happy people.

About Us

Who are we? Hehe, that's a good question alright. :)

We are a group of buddies who got to know one another over the aeons of history of the internet. Way back since 1995, we have started getting to know and "link up" with one another through mailing lists, discussion groups (newsgroups, egroups, yahoo groups, etc.), forums, online chat rooms, ICQ, etc. As online buddies, over the years, we have got to know one another very well, and have become some sort of "soul mates" (not the best word but you get the point).

Eventhough we come from different corners of the earth and from very different backgrounds and lifestyles, all of us share one same passion and life goal: "To find and keep true happiness."

For the last 12 years, we have witnessed, experienced and help one another cope with all sorts of trials and tribulations in life. We have seen the kind of pain and suffering that some of us had to go through just to make a decent living and to be happy. It is amazing how much price one needs to pay in order to get some basic happiness.

Some among us have left the group before finding the happiness they were looking for. Some were disillussioned.
"What is happiness?"
"Is there such a thing as TRUE happiness?"
"Why is happiness so hard to find?"
"Why can't we learn to love, respect and tolerate each other more?"
"Is working together to make this world a much better place for our children and the children of the world, so difficult for all of us?"

Everytime someone among us "give up", "surrender" or throw the towel in the fight of life, we were greatly saddened. What more could we have done for him / her?

The Million $ Question: "How To Find Happiness?"

Yes, what could we have done to help one another find happiness? The million dollar question that MUST be answered.

And we have not stopped searching since.

As we come from different nationality, race, religion, belief, culture, tradition, educational background, work / business environment, etc., we have much to share and discuss with one another. What we enjoy doing most is to share with one another philosophies on life in general and especially happiness.

Happiness has always been our favourite topic of discussion. Sooner or later, most of our "discussions" tend to lead to topics related to "happiness" or "to be happy". This is natural because ultimately, everything that one does is in pursuit of happiness. Everybody wants to be happy. You. Me. Tom, Dick, and Harry. Period.

More About Us

KOOBROS.COM 6 Pillars of Happiness

All these years, together, we have been growing stronger, physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, morally and spiritually. While all of us are busy with our own business, work, education, family, and other life commitments and activities, we are always there for one another, online and offline.

Yep, our fraternity is not just online. From time to time, we meet for get-togethers and get-aways in different parts of the world. Some time these "meetings" are arranged, some time they coincide with somebody's business trip or holiday to a particular country or city that one of us lives or works in.

Sometimes, we bring our families, partners or friends along. Most of the time just us "koobrosers". It is always so good to meet-up once in a while and to give one another that physical handshake, hug, smile, pat on the back, etc. instead of the cyber ones. Actually sitting together around the table to enjoy a nice meal, or a cup of coffee / beer, is definitely much more exciting than just talking about it on the internet. And seeing one another (growing "mature") in person definitely beats chatting with webcam or video-conferencing. :)

[It is a long story, but over the years, all of us have ended up referring to one another as the "koobros". It has something to do with 2 siblings in our group who were the life and soul in our "brotherhood" / "sisterhood" ("siblinghood?") online. All these years, they were the reason that we are together and enjoying each other's friendship, fellowship and online / offline support. And in order to make this "cyber kinship" and fraternity stronger, we have all decided to give ourself the "@ koobros" nick.]

How It All Began ... The Seed of Greatness

One day, Aleck (we call him "smart aleck") came up with an idea about a project, product or book on HAPPINESS that we could all work together in, since we share the same deep passion for this subject.

Aleck excitedly elaborated: "Instead of just talking, sharing, discussing, debating and chatting about happiness and how to be happy in general, why don't we compile our points of view, experiences, research results, etc. into some sort of concrete and permanent "reference library" that we could all access, as and whenever necessary. Apart from being a valuable resource on happiness that all of us could refer to from time to time, we could also share the "happiness secrets" with our family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and fellow homo sapiens from all over the world. Won't that be great?"

Stephanie liked the idea very much, and soon followed with her support: "Yes, that sounds nice. Let us 'put our minds together' and see how best we could do it. Let us brain-storm and come up with some constructive and practical ideas."

A Book On Happiness & Being Happy?

Wilson, Sitting Bear, and Annabel felt that a book on "happiness", "finding happiness" or "how to be happy" sounds good.

But the fact is that there are already thousands of books on this subject in the market (try searching for "happy" or "happiness" on Amazon.Com and see what they mean).

At the same time, many of us do agree with them that publishing a book is not really the best method for us to share our information on "happiness" and "how to be happy". Apart from the possible large amount of costs and time that all of us must put in, a book also does not reach as many people as possible, as fast as possible. Even if it is an e-book.

A Website On Finding Happiness & How To Be Happy?

Ok, so, what is the next best option?

Most of us, especially Peony, felt that our "project" should make it easy for all of us and people worldwide to find, reach and access the resources on "happiness". It should be available 24/7/365 (24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year). A website seemed to be the most suitable "media" to do so. First of all, it is fast and widely accessible. Secondly, it is cost-effective. And since we come from different parts of the world, we could actually work on the "web site on happiness" separately when we could find the time or have the idea. Then we could access and update the site through the internet as often as we want to. It seems to be a great idea. In fact it is the best idea since a website allows us or anybody else to access the information we need whenever necessary.

Penny, was all excited about the idea too. But, she also reminded us that we need to keep our costs low, since we are planning to offer the informations (on happiness) for FREE to anyone who needs them. Even if ALL of us don't mind contributing our time and money to this "project on happiness" since it is our favourite subject and passion, we must still do our best to keep our costs to the minimum. We don't want this "corroboration effort" of ours to become any sort of "burden" on us.

Brandon then pointed out that with a website, we could actually make it "self-sufficient" financially. Yes, we could find ways for the website to "earn" some money and support itself (costs of domain name registration, webhosting, etc.). For example, we could become an affiliate of online bookstores such as Amazon.Com or BarnesAndNoble.Com and make some commission from recommending or "selling" books related to happiness. At the same time, he also mentioned that one of the best ways to generate an income for a website is of course through the:

Alright, now that we have all agreed on the setting up of a website as our "project on happiness", what domain name should we use. Well, this is actually the easiest part. Of course "KOOBROS.COM"!!!

Well, that basically sums up some "rough and hazy" (hehe!) information about us. Last but not least, we are all into this just for the fun and satisfaction of sharing what we have learnt about happiness and being happy with YOU. KOOBROS.COM aims to share with you the answers, methods and strategies to help you understand, find and keep true happiness.

Let's walk together on this quest for happiness, buddy. Afterall, we are all fellow travellers on the journey of life. :)
